Ourobard — Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-07-13 · Beta

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Ourobard Discord bot and the ourobard.com/ourobard.gg websites (together, "Ourobard", "we", "us"). By adding Ourobard to a Discord server or interacting with it, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Ourobard.

1. What Ourobard is

Ourobard is a storytelling companion for tabletop play: it listens in the channels an admin configures and produces narration, a campaign chronicle, character art, and highlights. It is not a Dungeon Master and does not run your game — it retells it. Ourobard may also offer optional matchmaking to help players and DMs find each other across servers (Section 5); it is off unless you choose to join it.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by Discord and by the law of your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract. If you add Ourobard to a server, you represent that you have authority to do so and to accept these Terms on that server's behalf.

Matchmaking (Section 5) is an optional feature restricted to users 18 or older; do not use matchmaking if you are under 18.

3. Your Discord account and server

You are responsible for your use of Discord and for configuring Ourobard appropriately, including which channels it monitors and whether voice capture is enabled. Server admins must respect table consent and applicable laws when enabling features that process others' data.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

5. Connecting with other players (matchmaking)

Ourobard may offer matchmaking — an optional feature that helps DMs find players and players find campaigns across servers. Matchmaking is off unless you choose to join it, is restricted to users 18 or older (Section 2), and is governed by these additional terms:

You agree to use matchmaking honestly, to not misrepresent yourself, to never use it to contact anyone under 18, and to not harvest or scrape other users' profiles.

6. Content and intellectual property

7. AI-generated content

Ourobard's narration, art, and transcription are produced by AI models and may be inaccurate, inconsistent, or unexpected. Treat generated content as flavor, not fact. You are responsible for reviewing and for what your group posts and shares.

8. Third-party services

Ourobard runs on Discord and uses third-party AI providers (currently Google) and hosting infrastructure. Your use is also subject to those parties' terms; we are not responsible for third-party services.

9. Beta; availability; "as is"

Ourobard is beta software provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Features, limits, and these Terms may change; we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will the maintainers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of data, content, goodwill, or profits, arising from or related to your use of Ourobard. This includes, to the fullest extent permitted by law, any dispute with — or harm arising from — another user you meet through matchmaking (Section 5): Ourobard facilitates introductions but is not a party to and is not responsible for other users' conduct or the outcome of any connection. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to Ourobard will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100) or the amount you paid us for the service in the prior twelve months, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the maintainers from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your content, your use of Ourobard, or your violation of these Terms or of others' rights.

12. Termination

You may stop using Ourobard at any time by removing it from your server. We may suspend or terminate access for abuse, to protect the service, or if required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (content, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law) survive.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the maintainer's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes are subject to the courts located there, except where applicable consumer law grants you other rights. (Operators should set a specific jurisdiction here before relying on this clause.)

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. Material changes are announced in-server and/or on the website, and the "last updated" date is revised. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Contact

Reach your server's admin or the Ourobard maintainer at the address published on ourobard.com.

Good-faith terms, not legal advice. Operators deploying Ourobard should review these against their own obligations and set a governing-law jurisdiction (Section 12).
